Why Timing Matters in Interviews
Interviewers typically spend 30-90 minutes with you. If you give 10-minute answers to simple questions, you will run out of time — and the interviewer will remember your poor time management as a red flag.
Golden rules: For behavioral questions, aim for 90 seconds to 2 minutes. For "Tell me about yourself," keep it under 2 minutes. For technical deep-dives, 3-5 minutes is appropriate. Always leave time for questions at the end.
Practice strategy: Record yourself answering common questions. Listen back and identify where you ramble. Then practice the same answer with this timer until you consistently hit the target range.
