How the Toastmasters Timing System Works
In every Toastmasters meeting, the Timer is responsible for signaling speakers with colored cards or lights. The system is simple:
Green — Minimum Time Reached
You have spoken for at least the minimum required time. Keep going — you are on track.
Yellow — Midpoint Warning
You are approaching the maximum. Begin wrapping up your conclusion.
Red — Maximum Time Reached
The allotted time has ended. Contest grace periods depend on the applicable rules, so confirm them before the event.
