Treat these as starting points. Younger learners, accessibility needs, unfamiliar tasks, and room transitions may need more time. A quiet warning before the final minute can help students finish without turning the countdown into pressure.

Keep the countdown useful, not stressful
- Choose a calmer theme or lower the display brightness when motion distracts the group.
- Keep sound optional and make the visual clock the reliable signal.
- Pause the timer when the class needs clarification instead of letting instruction consume work time.
- Offer a reasonable adjustment when a learner has an accommodation or the task changes.
Good routines for a projected timer
Put the timer where it can be seen without covering instructions. For station work, reset it only after every group is ready. For assessments, follow the approved timing and accommodation plan; this general classroom tool is not a secure exam system.
Classroom timer questions
How do I change the classroom timer length?
Open Settings, then choose a 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, or 15 minute preset. Selecting a new preset resets the clock so it is ready for the next activity.
Can I pause and resume the timer?
Yes. Pause stops the countdown without losing the remaining time, and Resume continues from the same point. Reset returns to the full selected duration.
Does the classroom timer make a sound?
The timer attempts to play a short alert when time is up. Browser or device sound settings may block it, so keep the visual countdown visible as the primary signal.
Can I project this timer for a class?
Yes. Open the timer on the classroom display, use its Fullscreen control, or share the browser window. Choose a theme with enough contrast for the room and tell students what should be complete when the clock reaches zero.
Can I share a classroom timer setup?
Yes. Choose a preset and theme, then select Share setup. The link preserves those two settings so another teacher or classroom display can open the same countdown.
Does it require an account or student data?
No account is required, and the timer does not ask for student names or work. The countdown runs in the browser.
