How to Give a Great Toastmasters Evaluation
A great evaluation is one of the most valuable gifts you can give a fellow Toastmaster. The CRC method (Commend, Recommend, Commend) ensures your feedback is balanced and encouraging.
Be specific: Instead of "Great eye contact," say "Your eye contact with the audience in the first minute made everyone feel included."
Focus on behavior: Evaluate what the speaker DID, not who they ARE. This makes feedback actionable.
Timing: Evaluations are typically 2-3 minutes. Stick to your 2-3 most important observations rather than trying to cover everything.
End positively: Always close with encouragement. The speaker took a risk by getting up to speak — honor that courage.
