How to Add Page Numbers to PDF Online
Adding page numbers to PDF documents makes them easier to navigate, reference, and print. Our tool lets you customize the position, format, and appearance of page numbers with a live preview.
Available Formats
- Numeric (1, 2, 3): Standard Arabic numerals, the most common format
- Roman (i, ii, iii): Traditional for introductions, prefaces, and front matter
- Dashed (- 1 -): Decorative style with dashes around the number
- Page X of Y: Shows current page and total count for easy reference
Position Options
Page numbers can be placed at six positions: top-left, top-center, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-center, or bottom-right. Bottom-center is the most traditional position for formal documents.
Custom Starting Number
Set any starting number for your page numbering. This is useful when combining documents or when the first few pages (like a title page or table of contents) should not be numbered.
